Homemade CBD Halloween Dog Treats

When Halloween comes around, it’s pretty easy to decide on candy to buy to give out to trick-or-treaters and treats to make you and your adult friends, but what about your dog? I’ve compiled a list of dog treats you can make at home that are pumpkin, spice, and everything spooky! The best part about these treats is that they include CBD oil for dogs which can help calm your dog down as the doorbell is constantly ringing and people are running up and down your street. 

Are you hesitant about giving your pup pumpkin? If you are, I’m here to put any fears around pumpkin to rest! Pumpkin is rich in fiber while also containing important vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, potassium, and iron. Fiber can act as prebiotic and increase the amount of beneficial bacteria in the intestines while also helping your dog if they are having difficulty pooing. While there are a lot of benefits, you should start out with adding a smaller amount of pumpkin to your dog’s meal. When buying pumpkin, either buy fresh or plain canned pumpkin. You don’t want additives that could irritate your pup’s stomach. 

Before you start making homemade CBD treats, I want to go over the dos and don'ts of baking with CBD. 

DOs

• Think about what strength you want in each treat and place the according amount of CBD oil for dogs in the batch
• Divide the recipe into the pre-decided number of treats to ensure the amount of CBD for your dogs stays the same. 

DONTs

• Do NOT preheat your oven to over 350 degrees Fahrenheit since this will cause the CBD oil for dogs to breakdown
• Do NOT give too many treats to your pup because there is CBD in them
