Nervous about traveling with CBD? Unsure about the laws and regulations surrounding CBD? Considering how new CBD is on the market and its close association with marijuana products it is easy to see how traveling with CBD might make you nervous. So hopefully we can clear up all of your questions and alleviate your concerns!
Can you fly with CBD?
Yes! You can fly with CBD products, they are federally legal and therefore can safely pass through airport security. ‘“Consumers can consider traveling with CBD products to be the same as traveling with any other over-the-counter supplements,” says Joshua Bauchner, Canafarma Corp. Legal Counsel. “TSA guidelines as of January 2020 specifically state that consumers can travel with CBD products as long as they contain no more than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis, or that are approved by the FDA”’ (Smartertravel.com). Any product on the market being sold as a strictly CBD product will not have more than 0.3 percent THC.
Is it worth it to fly with CBD?
If you are flying with pets having CBD on hand is almost a necessity. Travel can be very stressful and unnerving for pets, which can also make your life more difficult. We recommend giving your pet some CBD before getting to the airport and also having some in your bag to be used during the flight and after you land. The Zen Frenz Zen Bites are a great travel option as they are not messy and the bag is resealable. Another great option is the Zen Frenz Calming chews, they also are not messy and come in a resealable plastic tub. And if you don’t want to bring the whole container, you can put a handful in a ziplock bag instead.
Are there any restrictions?
The only restrictions of traveling with strictly CBD products are the same as traveling with any items. If you are traveling with liquid CBD products (or any liquids) they must be less than 3.4 fluid ounces. Anything over that must be put in a checked bag.
What products can I bring in my carry-on?
Most of the Zen Frenz products are carry-on travel safe! The Calming Chews and Zen Bites are both solids so they are easy to get through TSA security. Additionally, the Zen Drops and Hemp Seed Oil Drops are less than 3.4 fluid ounces, so they also can be placed in your carry-on items.
What products have to go in my checked bag?
The Zen Frenz CBD-Infused Shampoo is 8 ounces, so it must be in your checked bag. Also, many TSA agents consider peanut butter to be more liquid than solid, so to be safe you should put the CBD Peanut Butter in your checked bag as well. Fun Fact: While you usually can’t bring a container of peanut butter through TSA, you can put the peanut butter on bread and bring it through as a peanut butter sandwich!
