How to Keep Your Pet Safe Throughout the Heat

Summer is our favorite time here at Zen Frenz! Beach days, hikes, and pool parties are some of our favorite activities. While we love the hot weather this season, it can be too much for our pets. It is important to make sure that they are staying safe in the hot weather. Here are some ways to have your pet stay Zen throughout the heat!

1. Make sure your pet is properly groomed

The extra fur can cause knots and trap extra heat into the body of your pet. This can cause them to feel warmer than usual. With grooming, their fur can properly protect them against sunburns and keep them cool. Keeping them clean and showered after a grooming session is important, and our Calming Shampoo is a great way to help your pet both stay calm and physically protected.

2. Carry water with you when going out

If you are going out on a hike or walk, it is important to bring water to make sure your pet is continuously hydrated. A small amount of water every half an hour is safe for your pet to stay hydrated and cool within the heat. While on the walk, your pet may encounter hot surfaces on their paws that can cause further burns or irritation. Zen Frenz’s healing balm is great to help them from any discomfort.

3. Don’t leave your pet alone in the car

Cars become overheated when left outside, and it is unsafe to leave your pet unattended in there. Your pet can suffer from heat exhaustion, which hundreds of pets die from every year after being left in a car. There are no solutions to leaving your pet in the car, as something like opening the window will not make a difference. If you are not bringing your pet to the location you are going to because they may be scared, Zen Bites would be a great supplement to help calm them in that environment.

Try to keep your pet indoors as much as possible as that is the best way to keep them safe from the extreme heat. There are many activities you can do with your pet inside the house to have fun together. Stay tuned for the next blog post so that you can find out about some new indoor activities that you can do with your pet.
