Recognizing Heat Stroke

Dogs depend on panting and their nose and paw pads to release heat. This makes them susceptible to overheating, as they can’t sweat through their skin. Recognizing signs of heat stroke can be crucial to your dog’s wellbeing.

Some signs of heat stroke include:

  • Excessive panting
  • Dribbling
  • Raised temperature (normal is 101.5°)
  • Fatigue or Collapse
  • Muscle tremors
  • Trouble breathing
  • Rapid heartbeat

If you see these signs, lower your dog’s temperature gradually with shade and cool water and contact your vet immediately. This condition is serious and can be fatal.
