It's almost Pet First Aid Awareness Month, and with our discussions regarding grooming at home, it's not a bad idea to make your own kit. Plus, leaving a kit in your car just in case of an emergency on the trip to the groomer is always a good plan. You may drive quite a distance to reach your groomer, and even in a short distance, it's important to be ready for anything.

Supplies and Phone Numbers Every Dog Owner Should Have

There are various supplies every dog lover should have in case of an emergency situation.

First, before you put together all of the necessary materials, jot down all important phone numbers (close family members, poison control, your veterinarian). 

Next, write down any type of medical history your dog has just in case the person/agency needs to take special precautions outside of the emergency situation. This also keeps your dog safer as the emergency team will see any medications your dog takes regularly, what types of symptoms to look for, etc.

• Gauze for wrapping wounds, cuts, etc.
• Milk of magnesia
• Active charcoal
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Adhesive tape
• Nonstick bandages
• An eye dropper
• Digital thermometer
