As the leaves begin to fall and the air begins to turn crisp, your furry companions might also feel the extra chill, as they begin to shed their summer coats and breathe in some autumnal allergies.
Hygiene
With changing weather comes changing needs, especially for your dog’s hygiene needs. Colder weather makes their ears more sensitive to ear infections. Especially if they tend to spend more time outdoors, dirt and bacteria can get trapped in their ear canals. Make sure to inspect and clean out the inside of their ears regularly during this season to fight off unwanted infection.
After frolicking around in a pile of crunchy maple leaves or picking out the largest branch from a fallen tree, your dog is sure to make a mess of their coat. Regular bathing will not only help them feel clean and relaxed, but it’s also the perfect time to incorporate a CBD Shampoo or a flea and tick repellent.
Warmth
Keeping your pet warm as the weather cools down is also an important factor to consider this fall season. Gusty winds and rainy days can increase their risk of experiencing intense shivers. Consider getting them an extra hearty outdoor jacket or raincoat that can maintain their heat and add an extra layer of protection when running through bramble.
Outdoor Prep
Some of your frenz’s favorite fall pastimes may be running through open woods, brushing up against bushes, or chewing on crunchy tree bark. Either way, we know that many dogs especially enjoy the outdoors during colder months. We also know that for pet parents, safety is the number one priority.
Check out different shoes and booties for your pet that slip on to their paws and can effectively protect them from sharp objects and harmful debris on the leaf-filled ground. It’s also important to note that even in autumnal weather, fleas and ticks can still make their presence known, especially on your furry frenz. Jackets and outerwear can help prevent them from latching on to your pet’s skin, but also consider administering flea and tick repellent along with shampoo if needed.
